Guide to Profiting from TikTok

Instructions for Creating Your Own TikToks

One of the great things about using TikTok over YouTube for a niche is that you don’t have to create as much content. The videos are shorter, often have music or sound playing over them, and you are simply showcasing pictures and videos of whatever relates to your topic with a targeted message.

An example would be if you were in the food niche, and you were used to going on YouTube and uploading a 20 minute video on how to make a pasta dish. Using TikTok, you can simply record a few clips that are merged together to make a short video.

For example, you might have a quick clip of the water boiling, followed by the pasta being poured into it, followed by you stirring a sauce in a sauce pan, and then plating it all together.

It’s a lot less work than the soup to nuts approach showing every second of the process. To create your own TikTok, you will tap the + at the bottom of the screen. From there, you can either record within the app or upload content from whatever device you are using.

Once your clips are uploaded into the allotted time that you prefer, you have the opportunity to add any filters, text, sounds, or other effects that you wish to enhance the video with.

Make sure that if you are speaking in your video, you don’t play a sound that is too loud and that will drown out your voice. Once you are finished recording and editing your video, you will click on the check mark.

It will take you to another screen or you can make any additional edits that you want to include. After that, you simply click the next button and you will be on the screen where you can add your description and hashtags.

You can click the hashtag button and it will allow you to begin typing in a keyword. It will then show you potential hashtags that you may want to use. Make sure you select your cover image, decide if it’s going to be public or private, choose to allow comments (for niche engagement), and allow duets and stitches.

Dueting Other TikTok Users for Increased Visibility

Dueting is when the original creator of a TikTok allows other people to make videos where their original video is playing side-by-side on a split screen. This is usually when they want to showcase a response to your video.

They might be nodding in agreement or shaking their head in disagreement, with their $0.02 in text on their side of the screen. You can duet others and the original creator will be able to see it because their profile username will be linked in the description.

This is similar to how YouTuber’s have had response videos in the past. Only these are shorter. Some of the duets will be someone trying to do something like you’ve done it. Or, you can even ask people to duet your video and give their opinion on a topic you discussed.

TikTok is a lot of fun once you get started. People joke about how easy it is to plan to spend a few minutes on the app, and hours later, they realize they got sucked into the videos. You want to make sure you’re one of the marketers with a presence there.
