Coming Up with an Enticing Lead Magnet

Building a list is a way of declaring that people should listen to what you have to say. For some, this is a very intimidating step to take. However, if you want to be a niche leader, then you need to have confidence in your ability to guide those who need your help.

There are many marketers who are in this business to prey on the needs of others. If you are operating from a moral or ethical standpoint, and have solid information to share, then your guidance is much needed and appreciated.

The lead magnet itself will be the first example of how you will treat your target audience. This first impression will determine whether or not you are merely out to capture their contact details, or truly help them with their dilemma.

A lead magnet can be many different things. Most people think of it as a short report that gives subscribers a taste of what you have to offer. As little as 5 pages’ worth of information such as, “How to Start a Keto Diet” will suffice.

Many marketers go above and beyond and create full courses for their new subscribers to download. This is especially smart if you have an entire line of products that you plan to create.

Another thing you can do is turn your report or eBook into a video course. Instead of sending them a download link for a PDF to read, you will send them a link and password so that they can access a series of video tutorials or information.

What you provide to your new subscribers doesn’t have to be a course at all. It can be something as simple as a template or checklist that can help them succeed with their goals.

It can be a printable, such as a journal or worksheet – or a digital freebie, like a spreadsheet that they can log information into. Whatever you offer to your new subscribers, it should help them see the benefit in being a part of your list.

Your lead magnet should be full of value for your new subscribers. If you fail to make the exchange of contact information worth it, they will be disappointed and click the unsubscribe button the next time your email hits their inbox.

Think of what your subscribers need most. Is it a broad overview of information? A step-by-step tutorial of something many people have trouble with? How about a buyer’s guide to help them in their purchasing decisions?

You can look at online posts, forums and publications to see what people in your niche are voicing their concerns about and then meet their needs with a targeted lead magnet that whets their appetite for more.
